Nicol Sofia Wise Like a Butterfly

My name is a cool story. my mom and dad were undecided about which name they would choose for me, they had many options like Laura Sofia, Ariadna Sofia, Daniela, and others. One day my mom called her best friend Katherin, and they were talking about me because I was the sensation of the moment. Katherin told my mom that Nicol was a great name with a good meaning and then, my mom asked my dad if the name Nicol was a good option. he agreed with that.

One of my names had to be Sofia and the other one Nicol, but Sofia Nicol does not sound good the correct order is Nicol Sofia. So, what does Nicol Sofia mean? Nicol means "peoples of victory" and Sofia "wise". There is when my parents know that I was going to be a wise girl with victory. In Colombia it is common to have two names, I think each Colombian have it. Also, it's important to have both last names, the mother's last name and the father's last name and I love that, and I love my name either because is cool and original.

In Chinese my name means beautiful. My father gave me this name. I love my father and I like that he gave this name to me because another meaning of my name is clever. They hoped I would become cute and smart girl.

My older sister is not lucky like me. She has a name thasounds a little ugly and means stop giving girl to our family in Chinese. My parents like most of the traditional Chinese family always dreamed a boy would befallSo, when my sister was born, they gave her the name and begged the next baby would be a boy. After four years, I was born. That was a girl too! My parents gave up wanting a boy. Finally, they gave me a pretty good name for a girl.

am the youngest child in my family. I have a lot of love from my parents, my sisters, my grandmother and my uncle and auntie. Sometimes my father liked to call me my nickname “Xiao Chen”. Xiao in Chinese means small and lovely things. On the other hand, I was slim and looked like a little cat when I was a child. I was happy when I heard they called me my nickname. When I grew up to the high school age, they didn’t often call me my nickname, maybe they wanted me stronger to face any difficult in my life.

I like my name and my nickname. I can feel the love and happiness that my parents gave me from them. I always would like to be their obedient girl. I promised to myself that I would take care of them when they grew old.

Moon is My Name

My name is Mingyue Zhou. You can call me Ming. I am from China. My aunt gave me name . when I was born, they did not call that name . But I do not know what the previous name was. Because it was not registered on the birth certificate. That name was given to me by my grandfather because my grandfather likes that name. My aunt said that it was not good, so she changed my name to the current name. Mingyue means moon in Chinese. My aunt gave me this name because she hopes I can bring light to people in the dark like the moon. I like my name very much because it is very simple to write in Chinese. When I first learned to write, I quickly learned to write my name. When I was in elementary school, many of my classmates name were complicated. I remember that in my first year of elementary school, many classmates often wrote their names incorrectly during exams because of their complicated name writing. I also like that my name has the moon in it because the moon represents perfection. Mom always said: My daughter represents perfection, and the home with my daughter is perfect. There are many variations in the shape of the moon, sometimes it is round, sometimes it looks like a hook. Whatever it becomes, it is the brightest in the night sky.

Tradition of Name

Here comes my name: 黄名欣, this is the character version)Mingxin Huang is the English version). In Chinese, there are three characters, but it looks like just two words in English. I did not inherit it from my family, but one of words “xin (欣)” was given by my oldest aunt. In Chinese, it means any kind of things will get better and better.

It was very simple why my parents did not make a name for their own son because they did not have any ideas that came from their brains. Whenever I ask them, they will just laugh a whlie

I do not have a middle name, but “Ming(名)” the word from in the middle of my name was followed to make by my grandfather’s hometown tradition. It is located in Foshan, China, and its name is ChangqiBasically, all of my generations of my family got the same word in our names. The elders from this place got books that have specific words for every generations. When I read the books, I noticed that many ancient middle names were recorded in those books too. But to this day, I have never learned where those words came from. This is all about my real name.

I also have a nickname “Pomo”, and it was created by myself. I just picked four random letters out of twenty-four and put them together because I thought that it was easy for English speakers to pronounce. A fun fact about it, it is that I learned “Pomo” means apple in French from a book two years ago, and I was super surprised.

At last, I would say there is no interesting or amazing stories behind my name, but I do like to share about it.
